Congress, CSPI Call for Federal Action on Bacteria

News outlets reported that, because of the most recent ground beef recall that sickened 14 people last week due to an antibiotic-resistant strain of Salmonella, Congresswoman Louise Slaughter and the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) are petitioning for federal action on the increasing threat to public health from these bacteria. Bagged Spinach Recalled Due to Salmonella

In a press release , Church Brothers, LLC, in conjunction with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), announced the voluntary recall of their 2.5-pound bags of clipped spinach due to the potential presence of Salmonella. This recall is all 2.5-pound bags of clipped spinach contained in clear packaging and marked with the manufacturer code A279 47166 and “best by” date of 23 October of this year. The recall was initiated as a precautionary measure after a random USDA Microbiological Data Program sampling test procedure revealed a single bag to be positive for Salmonella. Continue reading

Study Says Women More Likely at Sustaining Serious Injury in Crash

A newly released study shows that woman have higher risks of sustaining serious injuries in a car accident.
